How to choose a correct turbocharger for your digger?
A turbocharger is a device which uses exhaust heat from an Engine to get more air into the engine to make the engine more powerful. Most of all diggers with diesel engine come with a turbocharger. If you need to replace a turbocharger . How to check if a turbocharger is suitable for your digger? It is not something that can be immediately easily explained.
Usually when we sell turbocharger we ask our customer for their digger model and we will provide following information on a suitable turbocharger :
-Engine model that the turbocharger is designed to work with , in this case, it’s 6BG1:
-Digger model, in this case , it is Hitachi EX200-5
-Part no：114400-3320 which is from Hitachi.
If your old turbocharger is the original one from Hitachi. you should be able to see the part no on your old turbocharger . If the part no on your old turbocharger is the same one we provide. The turbocharger is more than likely to be the correct one for your machinery
But the problem is not that simple. Hitachi EX200-5 diggers may have different engines. So you need to check the engine model with your digger. There is a model plate on the engine where you should be able to check the engine model number.
We also provide the actual photo for the turbocharger in the front, back, left, right, top and bottom . You may take those photos and compare them with your old turbocharger . If the appearance is the same, the digger model is the same and the engine number is the same too. Then we can confirm that this is the correct turbocharger for your digger.
In some cases it is possible that for example your digger is not the Hitachi EX200-5. but the engine model is 6BG1. That’s very possible because 6BG1 is a popular engine model made by Isuzu. This engine is used by many digger manufacturers and digger models. Other machines like a bulldozer or loader may even have one too. In this situation, the turbocharger could still possible be used with your machinery. In this situation you should look at the photos and compare them with your old turbocharger . If the appearance is same. The turbocharger is still likely the correct one for your machinery.
